About this event

We're delighted that SEERIH's termly Primary Science Subject Leader Regional Networks will take place in person throughout 2022-2023. In order to facilitate forward planning in schools, all meetings are open to book now. Please book tickets for the sessions you are able to attend.

Please note that you only need to attend one of the sessions each term - morning or afternoon - and we encourage teachers attend the same slot wherever possible.

The Network welcomes new and established Primary Science Subject Leaders of all experience levels to share and improve practice, providing a unique opportunity to speak with other Subject Leaders in your area about the issues that are affecting each of you. Expert-led professional development inputs will support you with up-to-date issues, skills and resources.

Introducing brand new themes for 2022-2024

Six new termly topics inspired by the findings of The 10 Key Issues with Children's Learning in Primary Science in England (Bianchi, L., Whittaker, C. and Poole, A., 2020) report are commencing this Autumn as above. The report presents classroom findings as seen through the eyes of primary science specialists to stimulate debate across all parties committed to developing science in primary schools. It invites us all to reflect upon the findings and to consider the implications to our area of activity or focus.

Attending these termly Networks is an interactive and practical way help you to tackle these issues in your school and raise the profile of science.

We work with a range of people to fascinate young people and their communities about the wonders of science and engineering in the world around us. If you teach primary or secondary science, are involved in science education or communication, are a school senior leader or governor, academic, research scientist/engineer or a business in science or engineering then the Hub will be of interest to you.

Located within the University of Manchester’s Faculty of Science & Engineering, we bring our expertise, built up over nearly 20 years to work with schools across Greater Manchester.  By focusing on the development of in-service teachers with a range of dynamic partners we are relentless in our drive to inspire, fascinate and improve the teaching and learning of science in our schools today. Our remit is mainly primary school science curriculum and professional development.
